ELVES hosted three Safe Handling of Electric and Hybrid Vehicle training sessions last week in Cork, Monaghan and Kildare. Congratulations to all the participants who received their certificate.
The WAMITAB accredited, ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) focused training was conducted by Salvage Wire Ltd and organised in association with the IMVRA. The training sessions form part of the Electric ELVES programme and are the first such sessions to take place in the country.
The training content of the sessions is designed to address new health and safety risks which ATFs face in handling electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as ensuring that the batteries from them contribute to the challenging reuse, recycling and recovery targets set out in the ELV Regulations.
As the compliance scheme for the End-of-Life Vehicle sector, ELVES developed the Electric ELVES programme in response to the increasing electrification of the car parc. The Electric ELVES programme already provides a range of supports to Irish ATFs when they receive a vehicle containing an industrial battery, such as an electric, hybrid, plug in hybrid, or mild hybrid vehicle.
The training sessions were provided free of charge to ATFs, and ELVES expects to run additional dates in the future. Interested ATFs who were unable to attend this first set of training days should contact ELVES to register their interest for future training days.
ELVES would like to thank everyone involved in the running and organising of the training sessions.
